Shafers Service Systems began in August of 1966 with a single HVAC contractor, his tools, and his pick-up truck. Soon Shafers had grown to employ over 35 technicians servicing all of Southern California. With this incredibly rapid growth, Bob Shafer struggled to find a software solution to meet the needs of his growing business, so he decided to develop his own software solution – one that was completely tailored to the Service Industry. In 1985, Bob sold his service company so he could devote his attention to the Shafers Service Management Solution.

After 25 successful years in the software business, Bob decided to retire and began looking for a buyer who would remain committed to his clients and the Shafers solution. Bob chose Explorer Software and in 2007, Explorer acquired Shafers.
